Modi slams Maya, SP; skips reference to Ram Mandir in rally near Ayodhya

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a public rally at Mayanagar Bazar in Gosainganj, 27 km away from Ayodhya, during the course of which he raised issues of terrorism and development and called upon the people to vote for the BJP. He even lashed out Mayawati accusing her of misusing Ambedkar’s name. He slammed the Samajwadi Party alleging that it was not living upto the ideology of Ram Manohar Lohia. Steering clear of the controversy surrounding the demand for a ban on burqa, Modi dwelt at length the programmes that his government has initiated in the last five years for the benefit of the common man. Since this was his first visit to the place in the last five years, his speech was looked forward to with bated breadth for any utterance on the construction of the Ram Mandir, in the back drop of the demand within a section of the party and the Sangh Parivar that the government promise the construction of the temple. But, alas, Modi betrayed no sign of wading into the controversy as he stuck to the themes of growth, progress, welfare programmes and elimination of terror.
