The Central intelligence agencies have warned of an ISIS and al Qaida attack on Mumbai, Goa and Delhi ‘to avenge’ the New Zealand shootout at two mosques there. There could be possible attacks on Jewish establishments too, reports said. Intelligence agencies have asked the police to step up vigil around the Israeli embassy, the consulate-general in Mumbai and synagogues, a report in the Times of India said.

The terror attack could be mounted using a vehicle and the assailants could use knifes and sharp objects to injure or harm victims. The ToI report said the first alert was issued on March 20 and some IS cells intended to avenge the recent Christchurch attack in which 50 people died. Brenton Tarrant, an Australian supremacist, had entered two mosques and opened indiscriminate fire.

The second alert, dated March 23, is about a possible strike by an al-Qaida attack a Jewish residential establishments or synagogues.
