With the festival of Diwali right around the corner, it is imperative to get ready for the much-awaited Hindu festival by cleaning our house as it is believed that the gods visit only the most beautifully decorated and clean homes.
To get one ready for the festival, here is a list of dos and don’ts to keep in mind while cleaning our house and making it Diwali ready.
Dos for Diwali cleaning
- Make a list: Add spaces to cover and things to get rid of.
- Pick one place at a time: It is important to clean one space at a time to avoid overburden.

- Clean your wardrobe: This will make it easy for you to pick out clothes as you go through the festivities.
- Clean the windows and grills
- Kitchen cleaning: It is important to clean the kitchen before Diwali by removing all the equipment that is no longer in use and ingredients that are old and expired.

Don’ts for Diwali cleaning
- Do not start with the floor: The roof and ceiling fixtures should be cleaned first before moving to the floor as the floor will collect dust and dirt. Cleaning the floor later will save one’s time as well as energy.
- Avoid old clothes and towels for cleaning: It is advised to use microfiber clothes for cleaning because they can attach themselves to tiny dust particles, are more useful for cleaning.
