In his trademark style of playing with words, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor on Saturday (January 25) took a jibe at Narendra Modi a day after the prime minister told the winners of children’s bravery awards the ‘secret’ behind his ‘radiant face’.
“Someone asked me many years ago, how come you have such a radiant face? I had a simple answer. I said I work hard and I sweat so much that I massage my face with it and it gives me a glow,” Modi was quoted as saying by NDTV, during his interaction with the awardees on Friday.

Reacting to the prime minister’s comment, Tharoor on Saturday said, “In an air-conditioned office or from an air-conditioned plane, it’s sometimes difficult to tell fakeeri (ascetic) from fakery!” Modi has often used the word ‘fakir’ to portray himself as a man who rose from poverty to the top post.
