Two days after their arrest for possessing a small quantity of ganja (cannabis), comedian Bharti Singh and her husband Harsh Limbhachiya were on Monday (November 23) granted bail by the magistrates court in Mumbai.
They were granted bail on a bond of ₹15,000 each. Singh was arrested on Saturday by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) while husband Limbhachiya was taken into custody next morning after 86.5 gms of ganja was recovered during searches at their house and office.
On Sunday, they were produced before the magistrate’s court which remanded them in judicial custody till December 4. The couple then filed bail pleas through their advocate Ayaz Khan, stating they do not have any criminal antecedents, and this was posted for hearing on Monday.
The seizure took place during raids at the duo’s house and office, being seen as part of the NCB’s ongoing investigation into the drugs nexus in the Hindi entertainment industry, which came to the fore following revelations in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case.
The recovered quantity of 86.5 gms ganja is considered as “small quantity” under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
