CBI should reveal findings in Sushant Singh death case: Anil Deshmukh

Deshmukh said the people of Maharashtra and the country "are eagerly awaiting the CBI’s report…People ask me about the status of the case."

Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, at a press conference in Nagpur, requested the Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI) to disclose their findings as soon as possible of whether Sushant Singh Rajput died by suicide or was murdered. “It has been more than five months since the investigation began but the CBI has not revealed if Sushant Singh Rajput was murdered or died by suicide. I request CBI to reveal the findings of the investigation at the earliest,” Deshmukh said.

There has been months of speculation about Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, ever since he was found deceased in his Mumbai residence on June 14. Mumbai Police claimed that as per the final postmortem report, signed by a team of five doctors, the actor died by suicide. The report stated: “No struggle marks or external injuries” were found on the actor’s body. However, on August 19, the Supreme Court ordered a CBI inquiry into the case.

Bollywood actors such as Kangana Ranaut and Shekhar Suman have questioned claims that Sushant Singh Rajput died by suicide. Shekhar Suman even started a campaign #justiceforsushant.

Investigations into Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case took another turn when the drugs angle began being probed by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), which arrested Sushant Singh’s girlfriend, Rhea Chakrabarty and her brother, Showik, on drug-related charges, but who were later released on bail.
