A woman techie from Bengaluru stabbed her mother and brother before flying off to Andaman and Nicobar Islands on a vacation with her friend on Monday (February 3).

The woman allegedly killed her mother and grievously stabbed her brother, has been arrested in Port Blair, said police on Wednesday (February 5).

“Our team went to Andaman & Nicobar Islands and arrested the woman there,” Deputy Commissioner of Police MN Anucheth told PTI.

According to NDTV, Amrutha Chandrashekar, 33, had also told her family that she has been transferred to Hyderabad and may be moving there soon.

After she left, her brother who was injured called the police for help.

Her brother was later admitted to the hospital where he gave a statement to the police on the incident.

The police produced Amrutha in a local court there and sought the transit remand to prosecute her here, the police official said.

The motive behind the murder will be known only after she is brought here and interrogated, said Anucheth. However, reports suggest Amrutha was upset about the family’s unpaid debts.
