Have done much more for tribals than Murmu, proud of my record as Vajpayees BJP: Yashwant Sinha

Oppositions presidential candidate Yashwant Sinha asserted on Thursday that as a former Union minister he has done “much more” than his NDA rival Droupadi Murmu for Scheduled Tribes and other disadvantaged communities and questioned her record for their welfare in her various positions including as Jharkhand governor.

Amid questions in certain quarters on the oppositions support to him despite his long association with the BJP before he quit it in 2018, Sinha said he was “proud” of his record as a member of the party led by former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The current BJP is “unrecognisable” from Vajpayees BJP, he said, alleging that democratic values are under threat in Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government.
