The first-ever digital edition of India Couture Week 2020 starts on September 18. Fashion enthusiasts have been eagerly waiting for a virtual show to be announced since the corona pandemic cancelled all shows in March.

Organised by the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), it will be held from September 18 to 23.

The FDCI has been one the forefront of supporting designers, handloom workers, and many others who were affected in gloomy times like these. With the announcement of the digital edition of India Couture Week, the biggest luxury conglomerate is back with a new avatar.

“The FDCI has been a frontrunner in establishing a fresh template, in tandem with the changing times. Couture has all the elements of fantasy, and as screens take over our lives, we hope to recreate the magic of this genre, with pure creativity…” said FDCI Chairman Sunil Sethi.

Designer Amit Aggarwal said, “The FDCI digital couture week allows fashion and creativity to thrive during these unprecedented times. The platform has challenged me to think out of the box and go beyond a traditional runway show and present the collections to our customers in new and exciting ways.”

Top couturiers Amit Aggarwal, Anju Modi, Dolly J, Falguni Shane Peacock, Gaurav Gupta, JJ Valaya, Kunal Rawal, Manish Malhotra, Rahul Mishra, Reynu Taandon, Shantanu and Nikhil and Suneet Varma will showcase their creativity as part of the show.

From evocative fashion films to runway shows captured at unconventional locations and venues… the India Couture Week promises to have all and more! These films will be streamed on FDCI’s digital platforms – Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and the FDCI website. The official hashtag for the event is #DecodingCouture.

The India Couture Week is a six-day long digital event, organised in association with Hindustan Times.
