Senior BJP leader and actress Khushbu Sundar struck a confident note about the NDA’s prospects in the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, asserting that “we are winning and we are forming the government.” In an interview with The Federal in Madurai, she framed the contest as one driven not just by campaign optics but by “the trust people have in us” and the NDA’s governance record.

Dismisses buzz around Vijay

Positioning the National Democratic Alliance as the frontrunner, Khushbu argued that the “arithmetic” favours the alliance, citing internal estimates that place the NDA ahead of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK).

She dismissed the growing buzz around actor-turned-politician Vijay and his crowd-pulling campaign, noting that “everyone who comes to see Vijay cannot be the voter”. While acknowledging that optics matter, she insisted they are “not the sole point to win an election”.

Accuses DMK of alleged ‘loot and scam’

Khushbu also sharpened her attack on the ruling DMK, alleging “loot and scam” and claiming that “people are tired of them”, pointing to what she described as visible anti-incumbency on the ground.

Responding to DMK leader PTR Palanivel Thiagarajan’s assertion that there is no anti-incumbency, she countered that “he should be in touch with reality”.

Plays down Annamalai’s absence from electoral fray

On alliance dynamics, she played down speculation around seat-sharing decisions and the absence of former BJP state president K Annamalai from the electoral fray, saying leadership choices are made “for the betterment of the alliance”. The broader goal, she emphasised, is to ensure that the NDA returns to power in the state under the leadership of the AIADMK.
