It was a trial: ‘Science student’ Akhilesh explains unsuccessful Mahagathbadhan


After the Mahagathbandhan in Uttar Pradesh put up a flop show in the Lok Sabha elections, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday (June 5) termed the Opposition alliance as an experiment that has failed.

“I have been a science student. Trail keeps happening. Sometimes, you might not succeed,” Akhilesh said, while speaking to reporters in Lucknow.

However, on the bright side, the SP chief said that the defeat made them realise what their shortcomings were. Also, he asserted his relationship with Bahujan Samaj Party president Mayawati remains intact.

The Mahagathbandhan in the northern state, which sends 80 MPs to the Lower House, comprised of the SP, the BSP and the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD).

Recently, Mayawati had announced her party will be contesting the Assembly bypolls in the state alone, severing her ties with the SP. Thereafter, the SP and the RLD had both announced to go solo in the bypolls.
