Education Adalats will be organised in Karnataka’s Belagavi division, beginning Saturday (November 16), to clear long-pending files of teachers. The ‘adalats’ will be set up by the department of public instruction to provide a single-window system to dispose of such files.

The exercise comes after the teachers alleged widespread corruption in movement of files and their struggle to get them cleared, media reports said. Teachers’ associations had also alleged they are being harassed by officials.

The Education Adalats are expected to provide relief to teaching and non-teaching staff of government and private aided schools who struggle to get their service-related works with the block education officers (BEOs) and deputy directors for public instruction (DDPIs) done.

They face several other issues, including those related to their salaries, promotion and leaves, and the petitions submitted in this regard are not disposed of on time. The ‘adalats’ will act as a single-window system to help dispose of such files.

The Education Adalats will be conducted on the first and third Saturday of every month at the offices of the DDPIs and BEOs. Priority will be given to long-pending files, a report added.
