Mohammed Shami rescues car accident victim in Nainital; watch video

“He’s so lucky god gave him 2nd life. His car fell down from the hill road near Nainital just in front of my car. We took him out very safely,” Shami said.


India’s fast bowler Mohammed Shami turned saviour for a man in Nainital, Uttarakhand after he met with a car accident. The cricketer posted a video of the incident on social media.

Shami has been in the news in recent times for his outstanding bowling in the ICC World Cup 2023. Shami was the highest wicket-taker in the tournament with 24 scalps. However, his brilliant bowling could not win the trophy for India.

India lost the World Cup 2023 final to Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad last Sunday (November 19).

On Saturday (November 25), Shami posted a short video on his Instagram account in which he is seen saving a man after his car fell down from a hill round near Nainital. The accident happened right in front of Shami’s car, according to the paceman.

Shami captioned the video, “He’s so lucky god gave him 2nd life. His car fell down from the hill road near Nainital just in front of my car. We took him out very safely.”

The cricketer’s post received more than 8 lakhs likes. Cricketers Sikhar Dhawan, Umesh Yadav and Suresh Raina were among those who liked Shami’s post.

There were many comments, appreciating Shami. One of them which got more than 8,000 likes was this. “Rare scene of shami saving someone's wicket.”

Another one which caught the users’ attention was, “Pitch per Indian team bachaya or yaha Indian citizen ko (On the pitch, saved India, and here an Indian citizen).

“Brutal on the field, kind human off the field, absolute legend!” another Instagram user wrote.

Recently, in an interview, Shami said he likes travelling, fishing and driving.

“I like travelling, fishing. I like driving a lot. I like driving bike and cars. But after playing for India, I have stopped driving bikes. What if I get injured? I drive bike on highways, may be sometimes in village when I go to meet my mom,” Shami said on PUMA's YouTube channel.

“I have driven tractor, bus, trucks. I have driven bus in truck. One of my school friends had a truck in his house. He told me to drive. I was small then and was driving on a ground. I drove our tractor into the pond too. My father scolded me,” he added.
