Curtains came down on the ICC World Cup 2023 in Ahmedabad on Sunday night (November 19) as Australia were crowned the world champions at the Narendra Modi Stadium in front of over 1 lakh spectators.

Australia halted India’s 10-match winning streak to win the trophy by six wickets. Travis Head hit a superb 137 as Australia chased down 241 on a slow pitch.

This was Australia’s record-extending sixth ODI World Cup title. Their previous trophies were in 1987, 1999, 2003, 2007, 2015. Pat Cummins is the fifth Australian captain to win the ODI World Cup trophy after Allan Border (1987), Steve Waugh (1999), Ricky Ponting (2003, 2007) and Michael Clarke (2015).
