Tamil Nadu reports 3 new COVID-19 positive cases, total 6 in a day

On the afternoon of March 24, three new cases were reported. While two of the affected had returned from abroad, one was from Chennai.


It was an ominous day for Tamil Nadu – the state reported a total of six new COVID-19 cases.

On the afternoon of March 24, three new cases were reported. While two of the affected had returned from abroad, one was from Chennai.

Those who came from abroad were a 65-year-old man (who came from New Zealand) and a 25-year-old man, from London. The former was being treated in a private hospital and the latter at the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital, Chennai. A 55-year-old woman from Saidapet, the third patient, was admitted to the Kilpauk Medical College (KMC).

Earlier in the day, the state had reported three new cases and all of them had foreign travel history. A man (74) and woman (52) who came from the US, were being treated at the Stanley Hospital, Chennai. Another woman, 25, who returned from Switzerland, was admitted to the KMC. They were residents of Porur, Purasaiwalkam, and Keelkattalai, respectively.

All the patients were in isolation and being treated, State Health Minister C. Vijayabaskar tweeted.
