Over 50 journalists test positive for COVID-19 in Mumbai

Shiv Sena corporator Amey Ghole has confirmed 53 journalists were found infected in the financial capital. “Out of 167 samples, 53 have tested positive for COVID-19. The number is likely to go up,” reports quoted him as saying.


Over 50 journalists have tested positive for COVID-19 after samples of 167 persons working in various media organisations in Mumbai were tested, reports said on Monday (April 20).

Shiv Sena corporator Amey Ghole has confirmed 53 journalists were found infected in the financial capital. “Out of 167 samples, 53 have tested positive for COVID-19. The number is likely to go up,” reports quoted him as saying.

Reports further said those found infected include reporters, cameramen of news channels and photojournalists. Most of them were asymptomatic.

Media organisations, both print and electronic, have been listed as essential services and were permitted to function during the lockdown period.
