Two young cousins die of suffocation in Telangana after accidentally locking themselves inside a parked car during a family visit in Chevella
In an incident that yet again underscores the importance of car safety awareness, two young cousins died of suffocation after becoming trapped inside a parked car in Telangana’s Chevella region, near Hyderabad, on Monday (April 14).
The incident occurred in Damaragidda village, Ranga Reddy district, on Monday afternoon. Tanmaya Sree (5) and Abhinaya Sree (4), who were visiting their grandparents’ home with their families for a family wedding, had been playing unsupervised outside when they entered a parked vehicle nearby.
The doors were accidentally locked when they entered the car, and the girls, unable to unlock the doors, remained trapped inside for nearly an hour.

Frantic search for kids
Anxious after realising that the children, who had gone out to play, were missing, the desperate parents searched for them at all possible places.
As the children failed to return, worried family members launched a frantic search. They eventually discovered the unconscious girls inside the locked car.
The family immediately unlocked the doors to open the vehicle and rushed them to the nearby government hospital in Chevella.
Sadly, doctors declared both children dead on arrival due to suffocation. According to the local police, the incident likely occurred around 1.30 pm.
The children were last seen playing around noon. Their absence went unnoticed amid ongoing wedding preparations.
No complaint filed
Despite the devastating tragedy, the family has reportedly declined to lodge an official police complaint.
However, Chevella police have taken up a case and begun an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
