CM Vijay's divorce case adjourned to August 7, video conference plea out
The Chengalpattu Mahila court adjourned CM Vijay and Sangeetha's divorce hearing to August 7, dismissing her plea to appear via video conference
The divorce proceedings between Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay and his wife Sangeetha ended without resolution on Jun 15, as the Chengalpattu Mahila court adjourned the case to August 7 for further hearing.
Video conference plea dismissed
The judge dismissed an interlocutory petition requesting that Sangeetha be allowed to appear via video conference, and directed both parties to furnish their email IDs before the next hearing.

In her initial filing, Sangeetha had also sought an interim injunction to restrain media houses from broadcasting interviews, hosting panel debates, or publishing speculative material concerning the matrimonial dispute. The fate of that plea remains unclear.
How the divorce unfolded
Sangeetha formally filed the divorce petition on February 24, 2026, before the Chengalpattu family court, seeking legal separation after 27 years of marriage. Court documents reveal allegations of an adulterous relationship and emotional neglect, with attempts at an amicable settlement — including personal discussions in November 2025 — having failed before she moved court.
In her plea, she also sought alimony and requested permission to continue residing at the couple's residence in Neelankarai.
Reconciliation rumours refuse to die
The hearing had been keenly watched not just for its legal developments but because of swirling speculation that the couple may be moving toward a patch-up. Rumours have been rife that Vijay and Sangeetha are considering reconciliation, with reports suggesting that efforts to resolve the matter amicably are ongoing and that discussions are taking place behind closed doors.
Neither Vijay nor Sangeetha has made any public statement about these reports, and there has been no comment from their legal representatives.
Sangeetha's petition was filed under the provisions of the Special Marriage Act, and no official confirmation has been issued by either side regarding any reconciliation discussions.
