9 killed as bus catches fire on Yamuna Expressway in Greater Noida
Many passengers were sleeping when the fire broke out; several escaped by jumping through the bus’s windows
At least nine people were killed and several injured after a sleeper tourist bus burst into flames on the Yamuna Expressway in Greater Noida on Thursday (September 24) morning.
The bus was reportedly travelling from Delhi to Mahoba when the incident happened. Many passengers were asleep when the fire broke out.

Many of those who escaped had to jump through the bus’s windows to save their lives.
The injured have been rushed to the hospital.
Taking cognizance of the incident, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed condolences to the families of the deceased.

“The chief minister directed officials to ensure proper medical treatment for the injured. The chief minister spoke to the families of the deceased and directed that all possible assistance be provided. The chief minister wished for the speedy recovery of the injured,” the Chief Minister’s Office said in a statement.
