A woman was allegedly gang raped inside a sleeper bus in Delhi by the driver and the bus conductor, following which both the accused were arrested on Thursday (May 14). Police said that the incident took place on the night of May 11.
Based on the woman's statement, an FIR was registered under sections 64(1) (rape), 70(1) (gang rape) and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Rani Bagh police station on May 12, stated a PTI report quoting sources.

Things took an unexpected turn for the worse when the woman approached a man standing at the bus door, asking for time. She was dragged inside the bus, which then sped towards Nangloi, where she was allegedly gang raped.
Medical examination, FIR registered
According to media reports, police said that the woman is married and has three children, adding that following a medical examination, an FIR was lodged and the two accused were arrested.
The opposition AAP likened the incident to the 2012 Nirbhaya gangrape-murder case and said it was a "big shame".

In a post on X, Delhi AAP chief Saurabh Bharadwaj condemned the incident.
"Big Shame - Nirbhaya repeated. 30 yr old woman was picked up in the bus at night on pretext of asking time. Then she was raped by multiple people in the moving bus for around 2 hours. Bus kept moving in Rani Bagh area of Delhi covering 7 km," he said.
Political reactions, Nirbhaya comparisons
Former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia stated in a post on X, "Another Nirbhaya incident in Delhi! Girls are not safe in schools, not safe in buses!"
The incident has drawn comparisons with the 2012 Delhi gang rape and murder that had shaken the country more than a decade ago. In that case, a 23-year-old physiotherapy intern, who later came to be known as Nirbhaya, was allegedly assaulted by six men inside a moving private bus in south Delhi on the night of December 16, 2012.
