Blast similar to one near CRPF school last month: Police

Police sources say the blast at Prashant Vihar is similar to the one that occurred outside of a CRPF school's boundary wall in Prashant Vihar last month.

"But this was a very low intensity blast which occurred opposite a sweet shop. We cannot link them right now," the source told PTI.

Senior police officers, including Additional Commissioner of Police Rajeev Ranjan have reached the site.

The entire area has been cordoned off and a bomb detection team, dog squad, local police force, along with the Delhi Fire Services are present at the spot.

On October 20, a strong blast ripped through a wall of the CRPF school in Rohini's Prashant Vihar area last month.

Police are looking into CCTV footage

The blast occurred near the boundary wall of a park. Police are looking into CCTV footage to obtain leads.

Similar blast on October 20 in same area

The blast comes just over a month after a similar explosion on October 20, which damaged a wall of the CRPF School in Rohini’s Prashant Vihar. Read the details of that blast here.

The recurrence of such incidents has raised concerns among residents and authorities alike, prompting a thorough investigation to determine the cause and whether there is any connection between the two blasts.

Police begin probe

The incident reportedly occurred in a park near the PVR outlet, where a white powdery substance was found at the scene of the blast. One person sustained injuries and was rushed to BSA Hospital by a PCR van, said reports.

Senior police officers, including Additional Commissioner of Police Rajeev Ranjan, along with ACP and SHO Prashant Vihar, have reached the site and are overseeing the investigation. The crime team is also present and conducting a detailed survey of the area.

Police get call

The Delhi Fire Service received a call about the explosion at 11:48 am and immediately dispatched four fire tenders to the site.

A powder-like substance is said to have been found near the blast site.

In a statement, the police said the PCR unit received a call informing about a bomb like explosion in Prashant Vihar area. A Bomb detection team, dog squad, local police force, along with the Delhi Fire Services are present at the spot.
