Assam Rifles soldier killed, 4 injured in suspected insurgent attack in Arunachal Pradesh
Havildar Jankhokai Kuki was killed and four personnel injured when a 21 Assam Rifles patrol came under suspected insurgent fire in Changlang district
An Assam Rifles soldier was killed, and four others were injured after their patrol came under suspected insurgent fire in Arunachal Pradesh's Changlang district on Tuesday (September 29) morning.
The attack took place around 6.30 am near Nampong Nallah under Nampong Circle, where personnel of the 21 Assam Rifles were patrolling an area where border-fencing work was underway.
One soldier killed, four injured
The deceased soldier was identified as Havildar Jankhokai Kuki (42). The four injured personnel were evacuated and are receiving treatment at a military hospital. Their condition was not immediately available.

Suspected NSCN K-YA insurgents blamed
Preliminary information suggests that the firing was carried out by suspected insurgents belonging to the NSCN K-YA faction. Security forces have since launched an operation in the area to track down those responsible, officials said.

Changlang Superintendent of Police Kirli Padu said police had received information about the incident and directed the officer-in-charge of Changlang police station to collect details.
Police seek details of border attack
“We have received information about the incident that occurred along the IMB (India-Myanmar Border) and have asked the OC of Changlang police station to collect all information related to it,” the SP said.

Further details about the attack and the condition of the injured personnel were awaited.
The India-Myanmar border in Changlang has remained sensitive because of the presence and movement of insurgent groups operating in the region and across the international boundary.
