Every sixth BJP MP won through vote theft, says Rahul, calls Haryana govt 'infiltrator'
Rahul Gandhi accuses BJP of vote theft, alleges electoral manipulation in Haryana, Assam and Bengal; Kiren Rijiju hits back
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday (May 6) alleged that every sixth BJP MP have won their seats through vote theft. The Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha also said that the entire State government in Haryana is an “infiltrator”.
Rahul, in a post on X, claimed that the BJP would not be able to win more than 140 seats if the elections were fair.
Vote theft charge
“Through vote theft, sometimes seats are stolen, and sometimes entire governments are stolen. Out of the BJP’s 240 Lok Sabha MPs, roughly every sixth MP has won through vote theft. It’s not hard to identify them — should they be called ‘infiltrators’ in the BJP’s own language? And Haryana? There, the entire government itself is an ‘infiltrator,” said Rahul.

Elaborating further on his charges against the BJP government in Haryana, Rahul said that those who tamper with voter lists in the State were themselves “remote controlled.”
“The institutions they keep in their pockets, the way they manipulate voter lists and distort the electoral process — they themselves are ‘remote-controlled.’ What they truly fear is the truth. Because if elections were conducted fairly, today they would not even be able to win close to 140 seats,” said Rahul.
Backs Mamata’s charge
On Tuesday, Rahul alleged that the BJP had “stolen” elections in Assam and West Bengal with the backing of the Election Commission.
“Assam and Bengal are clear cases of the election being stolen by the BJP with the support of the EC,” Rahul said.

The Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha also backed Mamata Banerjee’s charge that more than 100 Assembly seats in the State had been taken away from the Trinamool Congress through electoral manipulation.
Past poll allegations
“We agree with Mamata ji. More than 100 seats were stolen in Bengal,” Rahul wrote on his official X account on Monday. Referring to previous elections, Rahul claimed that similar tactics had been used in other States as well.
“We have seen this playbook before: Madhya Pradesh. Haryana. Maharashtra. Lok Sabha 2024 etc,” he said.
Rijiju hits back
The remarks drew a sharp response from Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, who asked the Congress leader to accept the verdict delivered by voters instead of targeting constitutional institutions.
“Please learn to respect the mandate of the People. The more you attack the Constitutional Authorities, the more you’ll lose your own remaining credibility as a leader,” Rijiju wrote on X on Tuesday.

“Do critise the Govt. Policies, attack us but please respect the Constitution of India,” he added.
Rijiju also accused the Congress of treating Muslims as a vote bank and blamed Rahul’s leadership for the party’s political setbacks.
“Rahul Gandhi Ji, this is the reason, so why blame others!! It’s the failure of your leadership. Respect Muslims & don’t treat Muslims as mere Vote Bank,” Rijiju said.
