Oracle yet to make ‘layoff’ official; employees reportedly offered severance package, told access to computers, emails will be cut soon
“Today is your last working day”: Several Oracle employees are said to have woken up to the shocking message sent to their emails as part of the company’s latest round of layoffs.
The layoff has been reported by Business Insider, with whom at least three affected employees shared their letters. Oracle has not officially acknowledged the layoffs or publicly released the alleged termination letters.
The company reportedly informed employees about the termination in emails sent as early as 6 am. The number of employees who will be impacted by the reported layoffs is not known.
Letter cites ‘business needs’
The email reportedly did not cite any specific reason for the termination and instead said it was being done in view of Oracle’s “business needs”.
“After careful consideration of Oracle’s current business needs, we have made the decision to eliminate your role as part of a broader organisational change. As a result, today is your last working day,” the email shared with Business Insider by the impacted employees said.
A source privy to the layoffs told the daily that the latest round was expected to be announced on Monday (September 14).
Employees offered severance package
The report quoting severance offer documents said that laid-off employees have been offered four weeks’ base salary plus one week per year of employment.
The email says employees will receive a separate email from DocuSign on their official email address with details on their severance packages and termination date.

It mentions a list of steps that laid-off employees are required to take. Among them, the email asks employees to submit their personal email IDs so that they can be contacted for follow-up information, including FAQs and documents related to the layoff and severance package.
Access to workstation to cut off
The email tells employees that access to their computer, email, voicemail, and files will be deactivated soon and that they will be unable to log in to their systems soon.

“As a reminder, you are prohibited from downloading, copying or retaining (including emailing yourself) any Oracle confidential information,” the letter adds.
