A week after a assistant sub-inspector died of COVID-19 in Bengaluru, a 56-year-old head constable, who had tested positive for the virus infection a couple of days ago, succumbed to the disease on Saturday (June 20).
The deceased, attached to the Kalasipalya police station, was undergoing treatment at Victoria Hospital in Bengaluru, police sources said. He was among nine police personnel who had tested positive for COVID-19 in the state.
On June 13, an 59-year-old assistant sub-inspector attached to the VV Puram traffic police station died after suffering a cardiac arrest. He had tested positive for COVID-19 and was on medical leave. He was about to retire from service, The Hindu had reported.
Meanwhile, an assistant sub-inspector with the Wilson Garden traffic police station in the city has also reportedly tested positive. According to sources, the ASI is undergoing treatment at a designated hospital and the station has been sanitised. His contacts have been quarantined.
