Delhi police land in Jaipur to arrest Rajasthan minister's son in rape case
A Delhi police team landed in Jaipur on Sunday (May 15) to arrest Rohit, the son of a Rajasthan minister Mahesh Joshi, who is accused of raping a 23-year-old woman. Rohit, however, is absconding.
His two residences in Jaipur were searched by a team of 15 officials but the accused was missing, said a NDTV report. A notice was put up at Rohit Joshi’s Jaipur residence that he has to appear before the Sadar Bazar police station by May 18 at 1 pm.
A zero FIR of rape, which can be filed anywhere in the country, was lodged by the Delhi police earlier this month against Rohit Joshi. He was charged for rape, causing hurt by intoxicating drugs, causing miscarriage, abducting a woman to compel her for marriage, unnatural offences, criminal intimidation and molestation.
The Delhi police said they informed the Rajasthan police but since the alleged sexual assault took place in the national capital area under the Sadar Bazar police station, the zero FIR will be converted to a regular one.

According to the woman, who has accused Rohit Joshi, she had met him through Facebook last year. After which, they met in Jaipur, and she was invited to Sawai Madhopur in Rajasthan in January last year.
In the FIR, she alleged that the minister’s son raped her on several occasions between January 8 last year and April 17 this year and also promised to marry her.
In September 2021, when she came to Delhi for an interview, Rohit booked a room for her in Hotel Smart and signed in the register that they were husband and wife. She alleged that he had promised to marry her. Subsequently, he had raped her on many occasions and filmed it.
Further, the woman also alleged that her drink was spiked. The next day, when she woke up he showed her photos and videos of herself where she was naked. She got worried and started crying, she claimed in the FIR.
