KCR accused the Centre of implementing "poor water and power policies" that resulted in "water conflicts" between states and power shortages across the country despite abundant resources

In a bitter jibe ahead of the high stake Hyderabad municipal polls, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Saturday (November 28) sought to remind BJP leaders from other states that Telangana’s per capita income is far better than the ones ruled by BJP.

“Today, the Uttar Pradesh CM has come. Our state was at the 13th position six years ago in terms of per capita income. It now stands at 5th. And Uttar Pradesh stands 28th or 29th, and they’ll teach us,” said Rao referring to Yogi Adityanath’s Hyderabad visit on Saturday.

Referring to Devendra Fadnavis, Rao said, “Yesterday, the former Maharashtra CM came. They are ranked 10th (in terms of per capita income) and they will teach us – the one at 5th position.” Fadnavis released the BJP’s election manifesto on Thursday.

Rao, popularly known his initials ‘KCR’, further said some divisive forces are trying to enter Hyderabad and create havoc. “Are we going to allow it? Are we going to lose our peace? What about the future of our children? Please think. We may not be there but our children will be there,” he said.

The BJP, aiming high in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections, has deployed top leaders for campaigning, including party chief JP Nadda, Union ministers Amit Shah, G Kishan Reddy and Prakash Javadekar, besides Adityanath and Fadnavis.

Meanwhile, during his visit to Hyderabad on Saturday, Yogi Adityanath pitched for renaming Hyderabad as Bhagyanagar, triggering sharp reactions from the AIMIM’s Asaduddin Owaisi.

Addressing a roadshow in the city, Adityanath said, “Some people asked me if Hyderabad can be renamed as Bhagyanagar. I said, ‘Why not?’ I told them that we renamed Faizabad as Ayodhya and Allahabad as Prayagraj after BJP came into power in Uttar Pradesh. Then why can’t Hyderabad be renamed as Bhagyanagar?”

Owaisi responded: “They want to rename. They (BJP) want to rename everywhere. You will be renamed, but not Hyderabad. UP’s Chief Minister comes here and says that he’ll rename (Hyderabad). Have you taken a contract for this?”
