IT sleuths search 2 BRS MLAs’, MP’s properties in Telangana

Income Tax department officials on Wednesday conducted searches on the premises of business offices separately belonging to BRS MLAs P Sekhar Reddy and M Janardhan Reddy and MP K Prabhakar Reddy in various places in Telangana.

According to sources, the I-T sleuths conducted searches to verify tax payments of the firms belonging to the MLAs and the MP.

Media reports suggested that I-T searches were also conducted at some of the shopping malls belonging to Janardhan Reddy who represents Nagarkurnool Assembly constituency. Prabhakar Reddy is Medak Lok Sabha member while Pailla Sekhar Reddy is Bhongir MLA.

According to reports, Pailla Sekhar Reddy and his family members are engaged in the real estate business in Hyderabad and Bangalore. It has also been alleged that Sekhar Reddy acted as a benami for the deceased gangster Mohammed Nayeem.

Income Tax officials are currently examining the details of income sources, with a particular focus on immovable properties.

Prabhakar Reddy operates a travel business in the city and state, and there are suspicions of tax evasion in his Income Tax Returns.

Janardhan Reddy is involved in real estate business activities. He owns JC Brothers which is suspected of tax evasion in its retail showrooms and infrastructure business. His family members — Marri Shasidhar Reddy and Marri Madhumathi are directors in the firm.
