TN CM Stalin slams Palaniswami, says DMK govt has fulfilled 85% of poll promises

Update: 2023-02-15 07:14 GMT

DMK president and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has asserted that 85 per cent of assurances made to the people by his party ahead of the 2021 Assembly elections have been fulfilled.

Stalin, when asked about AIADMK interim chief K Palaniswami’s allegation during his Erode Assembly bypoll campaign that the DMK won the elections only by making false promises, he mocked at the Leader of Opposition.

“It was the same Palaniswami, when he was the Chief Minister (in 2018) uttered a lie that he came to know of the police firing in Thoothukudi only after watching television.

“It was Palaniswami who had ordered the police firing and it is natural that such a leader could only come up with such false accusations,” Stalin said on Tuesday (February 15).

“Not only the electoral promises have been honoured, several other schemes not declared ahead of polls are also being implemented,” he said answering questions in his Ungalil Oruvan (One among you) series.

The CM referred to the Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Higher Education Assurance Pudhumai Penn Scheme and underscored that it was not part of the election manifesto and it is being implemented.

A couple of schemes – that are part of the election manifesto – are pending and these would be implemented in about a year, he said.

“I will for sure implement it”, Stalin emphasized.

Moreover, fare-free travel in town buses for women, a cut in the price of State-run Aavin milk are among the promises that have already been fulfilled, he mentioned.
