Kollywood actor Vijay has distanced himself from the political party recently floated by his father and film director SA Chandrasekar in the name of his fan club ‘All India Thalapathy Vijay Makkal Iyakkam’.
Vijay has asserted in a statement there’s no connection between him and the party, and has requested his fans not to join or work for the party just because it was started by his father, according to media reports.
The movie star’s statement came minutes after the news of his father confirming the party is being registered with the Election Commission of India, broke in the media. He has also warned of action against anyone who uses his name, photograph or fan club for mischief.
Director Chandrasekar told the media on Thursday that he had registered his son’s fan club with the Election Commission to provide recognition to the youngsters who are doing good deeds in the name of the actor. He, however, clarified Vijay is not linked to the party.

Vijay had, earlier this year, faced two income tax raids with the first being at the shooting location of his film Master in February and the second at his residence in Panaiyur, Chennai in March. The income tax officers had approached the actor as part of their investigation into the alleged use of unaccounted money in his film Bigil, and even interrogated him.
The raids had kicked up row as political observers thought the raids were prompted by the actor’s movies which indirectly questioned the Centre’s new citizenship law and other ‘exclusionary’ policies.
