MBBS aspirant, father forge NEET score card in TN; arrested

A father-daughter duo allegedly forged the scorecard and the provisional rank list of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET). A special team, probing the matter, has gone to Ramanathapuram district, where the father and daughter hail, to question them.

On November 30, the MBBS aspirant, who had scored 27 marks in NEET UG 2020, had come to the centre and allegedly submitted a rank list with the photo and roll number of herself, showing a score of 610, and claimed she is another candidate who had scored those marks and had not received her call for counselling.

Upon verification of her credentials, the authorities found out that the aspirant had scored low marks in NEET and so wasn’t called for counselling. They also discovered that the aspirant had forged her scorecard. The discrepancy came to light when it was discovered that the original candidate, whose identity was forged by the aspirant, had opted for a medical seat.
A case has been registered against the father-daughter duo with the Periamet police station by the authorities. The father is said to be a dentist from Ramanathapuram district.
An FIR was registered under sections 419 (Punishment for cheating by personation), 420 (Cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 464 (Making a false document), 465 (Forgery), 468 (Forgery for the purpose of cheating) and 471 (Using as genuine a forged document) of the Indian Penal Code.
