A body of Muslim outfits on Tuesday (February 18) said they would go ahead with their demonstration at the Tamil Nadu assembly on Wednesday despite the Madras High Court issuing an interim restraining order. The decision comes after a meeting of the organisations following the court order.

The Federation of Tamil Nadu Islamic and Political Organisations and its allied organisations were scheduled to lay siege to the state assembly on Wednesday demanding a resolution against the CAA, NRC and NPR. However, the court’s interim injunction till March 11 restrained them from organising the agitation.

Passing the interim order on a PIL which sought to forebear the police from granting permission to the agitation, a bench of justices M Sathyanaraya and R Hemalatha posted the matter to March 12 for further hearing. The court also made it clear it was not expressing any opinion on CAA, or NRC or NPR.
