Kerala's first transgender journalist ties the knot on Republic Day
On a day when India celebrated its 71st Republic Day, a transwoman in Kerala’s Ernakulam district took wedding vows with her beau on Sunday (January 26).
Heidi Saadiya, the first transwoman journalist in the state who works with a private TV channel, tied the knot with Atharv Mohan, an accountant at a private firm in Thiruvananthapuram.
This is the fourth transgender marriage in the state under the Special Marriage Act.

The wedding was organised by Sri Sai Orphanage Trust and Ernakulam Karayogam.
According to Aisanet, Saadia is the foster daughter of transgender makeup artist Renju Ranji. Mohan is also an adopted son of transgender couple Ishan K Shan and Surya.
The ceremony had several guests from the transgender community greeting and blessing the couple.
