COVID-19: Kerala reports 65 new cases, one death

As many as 65 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Kerala on Wednesday (June 10), raising the total number of confirmed cases in the state to 2,161. The death toll has also increased to 17 as the test results of an 87-year-old man, who died on June 7, came positive.

While the Kozhikode district reported the maximum of 10 cases on June 10, Thrissur saw nine new cases, Malappuram seven, Thiruvananthapuram and Palakkad six each, Kollam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Wayanad and Kannur four each, Pathanamthitta and Kottayam three each and Alappuzha one, the daily bulletin said.

In the last few days, the state had been witnessing around or more than 100 positive cases every day. It witnessed the highest single-day spike of 111 cases on June 5, followed by 108 and 107 cases on the next two days. The state reported 91 cases each on June 8 and June 9.

Currently, Kerala has 1,238 active cases, while 905 people have recovered, including 57 who were discharged from various hospitals on June 10. So far, the state has sent 98,304
samples, including augmented and private lab samples, for testing.
