Kannada actor Chethana Raj, a household name among regional television audience, died after a cosmetic surgery at a private hospital in Bengaluru.

Her family alleged that she developed complications after undergoing a fat removal surgery.

Based on the allegations a complaint has been filed against the doctors of Dr Shetty’s Cosmetic Clinic in Rajaji Nagar.

According to reports, Chethana had admitted herself to the hospital on May 16, and had not informed her parents about the procedure.

She reportedly died after her lungs were filled up with fluid, leading to a cardiac arrest.

Reports said that doctors performed CPR for 45 minutes to revive her, and took her to the nearby Kaade hospital after they failed to resuscitate her.

Accusing doctors at the hospital of gross negligence, Chethana’s parents said while their consent as next of kin was not taken before the surgery, the ICU where the actor was operated upon lacked proper facilities.

“Without any precautions, they conducted this surgery. The doctors should have suggested a surgery only if there was a real need for removal of fat. It was her friend who signed the consent form before she was taken into surgery,” Varadaraju, the actor’s father told NDTV.

Chethana has acted in TV serials like Geetha, Doresaani, Olavina Nildana and in Kannada movie Havayaami.
