In another incident of mismanagement in Uttar Pradesh, a heavy stream of rainwater from a damaged pipeline flooded the coronavirus ward of a hospital in Bareilly on Saturday (July 18). The administration termed it as “plumbing failure” after a video of the incident went viral.

According to NDTV, the incident occurred after the sudden burst of a pipeline, installed on the ceiling of the ward. Bareilly’s Joint Magistrate Ishan Pratap Singh said the incident took place at a private medical college which has been functioning as a coronavirus hospital.

Singh said that it was due to a “plumbing failure” during the construction activity going on at the hospital. The pipeline has been repaired and the patients shifted to another different ward, he said, adding that they came know about the video late at night.

Last Thursday, a coronavirus-infected wardboy of a government hospital in Barabanki had raised allegations, in a video he uploaded, regarding the conditions at a private hospital in the same district which functions as “Level-1” coronavirus hospital, the report said.

A day earlier, a 24-second viral video showed a flooded ward at the prestigious BRD Medical College and Hospital in Gorakhpur. Coronavirus patients were staying in the ward, it said.
