Atma Nirbhar Uttar Pradesh Rozgar Abhiyan was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday (June 26). It seeks to promote local entrepreneurship and create a partnership with industrial associations to provide employment opportunities.

The scheme which is under the Centre’s Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyan was virtually flagged off on June 20, in 116 districts of six states.

The scheme seeks to dovetail central and state government programmes, while also creating partnerships with industry and other organisations.

As the COVID-19 pandemic has affected workforce in general and migrant workers in particular, the campaign is intensely focused towards providing employment and promoting local entrepreneurship.

With all the 31 districts of the state covered under the scheme, it has been decided to provide work to almost 1.25 crore workers across 25 categories.
