Modi to launch projects worth ₹1,800 crore on Varanasi visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit his Lok Sabha constituency of Varanasi on Thursday (July 7). During the visit, the PM will inaugurate various development initiatives in the city.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate various development initiatives worth ₹ 1,800 crore during his to visit his Lok Sabha constituency of Varanasi on Thursday (July 7).

The PM will inaugurate the ‘Akshaya Patra Mid Day Meal Kitchen’ at LT College, Varanasi, at 2 pm on Thursday (July 7). The kitchen has a capacity of cooking mid-day meals for over one lakh students.

The PM will then visit the International Cooperation and Convention Centre, Rudraksh, to inaugurate the ‘Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam’ at around 2:45 pm.

To lay the foundation stone for projects worth over ₹1800 crore, the PM will then visit Dr Sampurnanand Sports Stadium, Sigra, at 4 pm.

There, he will launch various initiatives under Varanasi smart city and urban projects, like redevelopment of Namo Ghat in Phase-1, conversion of diesel and petrol engines of 500 boats into CNG, redevelopment of Kameshwar Mahadev ward of Old Kashi, new vending zone and urban place prepared under Lahartara Chowk Ghat flyover, 33/11 KV substation at Nagwa under IPDS Work Phase-3, etc.

The PM will also inaugurate various road projects in the city, including seven roads under PMGSY and the widening of Dharsauna-Sindhaura road.

Projects related to improvement of sewerage and water supply in the district, will also be launched by the PM. This includes rehabilitation of old trunk sewer line in Varanasi city through trenchless technology.

The PM on his Varanasi visit, will also be launching social and education sector related projects.

To give a boost to Varanasi’s tourism sector, the PM will lay the foundation stone of Sarnath Buddhist Circuit under the World Bank aided UP pro-poor tourism development project.
