Ballia firing: UP police nab main accused, 2 others

Local BJP leader Dhirendra Pratap Singh allegedly shot dead a 46-year-old man during an altercation at a village meeting in Ballia

The Uttar Pradesh Police on Sunday (October 18) arrested three persons, including the main accused, in connection with the killing of a 46-year-old man at a meeting attended by senior administration and police officials in Ballia three days ago, officials said.

The main accused, local BJP leader Dhirendra Pratap Singh, was arrested by the UP Special Task Force from state capital Lucknow, while the other two accused were nabbed in Vaishali area of Ballia city, they said.

With this, police have arrested eight people in the case, including five named and three unnamed accused. There are eight named accused and 20-25 unnamed accused in the case.

“Dhirendra Pratap Singh, the main accused in the murder of a 46-year-old man in Ballia has been arrested. He was held from Lucknow on Sunday morning near Polytechnic area,” IG of Special Task Force (STF) Amitabh Yash told PTI.
