FIR lodged against UP cop caught on camera masturbating

As netizens across the country demand justice in Tamil Nadu’s custodial death case, another incident of police atrocity was reported in Uttar Pradesh when a video surfaced on social media of a cop masturbating while interacting with a mother-daughter duo.

A video purportedly recorded and uploaded by the complainant showed that an inspector in Uttar Pradesh’s Deoria district touching his private parts while speaking to the two women who had visited the police station to file a complaint in a land dispute case.

Shri Pati Mishra, Superintendent of Police (SP), Deoria, on Wednesday announced a reward of ₹25,000 to help find the officer, who absconded after the video went viral.

An FIR under sections 166 (public servant disobeying law), 354-A (sexual harassment) and 509 (act with intent to insult the modesty of woman) of the IPC has been registered against inspector Bhisma Pal Singh, who has been on the run since the time he was asked to surrender.

The complainant said that she, along with her mother, visited Bhatni police station at least thrice but their complaint was ignored.

She alleged that the inspector in-charge was touching himself in front of them. “I ignored him at least twice before deciding to record his act on camera and expose him in front of his seniors and public,” she emphasised.

The third time she observed the cop touching his private parts with an intention to sexually harass the two women, she secretly shot the video on June 22 and later shared it with some senior officials.

The inspector was suspended on June 26 and an FIR was filed on June 30 after local journalists raised questions regarding the viral video.
