Update: 2022-06-04 14:10 GMT

The National Commission for Minorities has stated that it is awaiting response from the Punjab government on the charge that Sikhs are being converted to Christianity.

The commission chairman, Iqbal Singh Lalpura, told The Print that it has written at least two letters to the Bhagwant Mann-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) so far but has not received a response.

Lalpura said they had received complaints that a “campaign is being run by Christian missionaries for extra constitutional conversion of Sikhs to Christianity in Punjab”.

The commission chairman said that they had asked for a factual report on the subject from the Punjab government but received no response.
