Old habits die hard and sometimes bring embarrassment as well! Such was the case for BJP’s Jyotiraditya Scindia when he called upon people to press “the hand” button in the November 3 Madhya Pradesh by-elections, according to a video being circulated online.

While campaigning for BJP candidate from Dabra constituency, Imarti Devi, Scindia was purportedly heard saying in the video: “…close your fists and assure us that on November 3, the ‘hand’ button will be pressed.”

That albeit was a slip of tongue as the former Congress leader, whose resignation along with 22 party MLAs earlier this year led to the fall of Kamal Nath government, immediately went on to correct himself: “…the lotus button will be pressed.”

The incident, however, has left the BJP embarrassed, giving the state Congress unit an opportunity to take a dig against the Scindia scion. The Congress tweeted: “Scindia ji, the people of Madhya Pradesh assure you that they will hit the hand symbol on November 3.”

Meanwhile, Devi was on Saturday banned from campaigning by the Election Commission for violation of the model code of conduct.
