It may be noted that the attack comes a day before the planned visit of a European Union delegation on Tuesday. A similar incident in Srinagar last week resulted in injuries to six jawans, reports said.

According to news agency PTI, one of the six is seriously injured and has been referred to a hospital in Srinagar, while others are being treated at a local hospital. Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched an operation to nab the attackers. No arrests have been made so far, police said.
