This November, private CNG vehicles too must follow odd-even rule in Delhi

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday (October 12) announced that all privately-owned CNG vehicles will now have to comply with the ‘odd-even’ scheme, which will be enforced again in the national capital from November 4 to 15.

According to the ‘odd-even’ scheme of the Delhi government, vehicles with odd and even number plates are allowed to run on alternate days. The plan was announced by Kejriwal on September 13 in a bid to tackle pollution during winter.

However, women drivers with no above-12 male occupants will be exempted from the scheme, the chief minister announced. The restrictions will be in place for 12 hours, from 8am till 8pm.

According to a report in the Hindustan Times, pollution monitoring agencies in the national capital had predicted the air quality index to be ‘very poor’ by Sunday. It said that the transport department had suggested the inclusion of two-wheelers in the ‘odd-even’ scheme during the peak-hours.

On this, the chief minister said that the government was consulting with experts to decide whether or not two-wheelers should be exempted from the scheme, said an NDTV report.
