A 30-year-old pilot working with SpiceJet was attacked and robbed by 10 men at gunpoint in Delhi in the wee hours of Thursday (June 4).
The incident occurred near IIT-Delhi when Yuvraj Tewatia, the victim was leaving for work in the office cab at around 1 am from his residence in south Delhi.

Police said Tewatia was robbed at gunpoint by 10 men who came in five bikes near the flyover next to IIT-Delhi.
“The pilot has alleged that the accused pointed a pistol at him, and put a knife on his thigh to scare him. That’s how he got a scratch on his thigh,” Indian Express quoted Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) Devender Arya as saying.
Tewatia managed to call the police after the gang left. He was supposed to board the 3 am flight. The case has been registered under IPC sections 392 (robbery), 394 (voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery) and 397 (robbery or dacoity with attempt to cause death or grievous hurt).
Tewatia submitted a written complaint to the police. Images of the blood-stained car and broken windows were widely shared on social media. The complaint said someone hit the pilot on his head with a pistol grip.
Reports said after photos of the pilot were shared on social media, several netizens reported being robbed in a similar manner at the same locality.
