Doval meets Delhi cops, speaks to residents in violence-hit areas
National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, who has been given the mandate to restore peace and normalcy in Delhi by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, held a meeting with senior officials of the Delhi Police and took stock of the situation after 22 people were killed in the communal violence in northeast Delhi.

“The situation is under control and people are satisfied. We have confidence in law enforcement agencies. Police is doing their job and is alert,” he told reporters after the meeting.
Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Mandeep Singh Randhawa, newly-appointed special Commissioner of Police S.N. Shrivastava, Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Satisha Golcha, and DCP of northeast Delhi Ved Prakash Arya were among those present in the meeting that lasted just over 30 minutes.
On late Tuesday (February 25) night, Doval held a similar meeting with the top brass of the Delhi Police after violence swept through northeast Delhi.

He also visited the areas of violence in northeast Delhi, including Jaffrabad and Maujpur, on Wednesday (February 26) to assess the situation. He went from door to door spoke to residents, after which he claimed that the situation was “under control” now.
“People have a sense of unity among them, there is no enmity. A few criminals do things like this (spread violence), people are trying to isolate them. The police is here and doing its work. We’re here as per the orders of Home Minister and Prime Minister. Inshallah yahan par bilkul aman hoga (Inshallah peace will be maintained),” NSA Ajit Doval said while interacting with the residents.
Northeast Delhi has witnessed violent clashes between groups in favour of and against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act.
In several areas, the police were accused of not doing anything to bring the situation under control.
