Delhi polls: Kejriwal says his aim is to beat corruption, take Delhi forward

As the national capital is gearing up for assembly polls on February 8, its chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday said while the opposition parties aim to defeat him in the upcoming polls, his aim is to beat corruption and take Delhi forward.

Kejriwal thanked Dr. Manmohan Singh on behalf of the people of Delhi for championing their rights in the Rajya Sabha despite his deteriorating health.

As the national capital is gearing up for assembly polls on February 8, its chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday (January 21) said while the opposition parties aim to defeat him in the upcoming polls, his aim is to beat corruption and take Delhi forward.

“On one hand – BJP, JD(U), LJP, JJP, Congress, RJD. On the other hand – school, hospital, water, electricity, free bus travel for women. My aim – to defeat corruption and take Delhi forward, their aim – to defeat me,” he said in a tweet.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), JD(U), LJP, Congress and RJD are fighting the upcoming assembly elections in Delhi. While the BJP is fighting in alliance with the JD(U) and LJP, the Congress is contesting in alliance with RJD.

On Tuesday, BJP released the second list of candidates in the middle of the night after 1 am for the Delhi assembly election.

The party has fielded its state president of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha Sunil Yadav against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal. Yadav, who is an advocate by profession, started his career as the Mandal president of Yuva Morcha.

Reacting to this, Saurabh Bharadwaj, AAP spokesperson said the saffron party has surrendered before the polls.

“Going by this list and BJP candidate against CM Kejriwal, it seems, BJP has surrendered,” AAP spokesperson Saurabh Bharadwaj tweeted. He also added that the ruling AAP will win 70 seats in the upcoming polls.
