COVID-19: Delhi health minister moved out of ICU as health improves
The health minister was tested twice last week after he had developed symptoms of COVID-19, including high fever and breathing difficulties. He tested positive for COVID-19 in the second test.
Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain, who had tested positive for coronavirus on June 17, has been shifted to the general ward after improvement in his health condition. The oxygen support for the minister amid COVID-19 treatment was also removed.
The 55-year-old Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader was admitted in Saket’s Max Hospital after his condition deteriorated earlier. He was initially admitted at the Rajiv Gandhi Super Speciality Hospital.
Earlier on June 20, ANI had reported that he was responding to treatment after plasma therapy, with his body temperature receding towards normal. The fever subsided after he responded to the therapy.

He had been put on oxygen support after his lung infection worsened and he was diagnosed with pneumonia. AAP MLA Somnath Bharti also tweeted that Satyender Jain’s health was stable.

Meanwhile, AAP MLA Atishi, Delhi government advisor Abhinandita Mathur as well as AAP media panelist Akshay Marathe had also tested positive for COVID-19 and were quarantined.
Delhi is the second-worst affected by coronavirus infection in the country, having recorded almost close to 60,000 cases so far, with the death toll standing at 2,175, so far.
