The NDA has retained power in Bihar by winning 125 seats in the 243-member Assembly. The BJP became the largest party of the alliance with 74 seats followed by Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) with 43. The two other constituents, HAM and VIP, won four seats each.
The Opposition alliance led by the RJD emerged victorious in 110 seats. The Tejashwi Yadav-led party won 75 seats, followed by the Congress with 19 and Left parties with 16.
Modi said the voters have demonstrated that they are aspirational and development is their only priority. “By voting the NDA back even after its 15-year rule shows what Bihar’s dreams and expectations are,” he said in a series of tweets in Hindi. “The youths have made it clear that the new decade will belong to Bihar and an ‘atmanirbhar’ (self-sufficient) Bihar will be its roadmap. They have reposed their faith in their own abilities and NDA’s resolve. This youthful energy will spur the NDA to work harder,” he said.

According to him, the “poor in villages, farmers, labourers, merchants, shopkeepers and every section of Bihar” have expressed faith in the NDA’s ‘sabka saath, sabka vikas, sabka vishwas’ mantra. “I assure every citizen of Bihar that we will constantly work for the balanced development of every person and every region with full dedication,” he said.
