West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell has been ruled out of the ongoing ICC World Cup after being withdrawn from the squad due to a knee injury, the International Cricket Council announced on Monday (June 24).
Sunil Ambris has been drafted as a replacement. He was the key player to hit 148 off 126 balls in an ODI win against Ireland in May 2019.
The team which is currently ranked eighth on the points table need three victories from their final three matches to secure a place in the knockout stages. If West Indies loses to India on Thursday (June 25), they would be out of the running for the title.
